Saturday Morning
Dennis Allan
Our team arrived last night (or, this morning) at 1am. It was 3am when I went to sleep. Yet, a late night and little sleep has not stopped the girls on the trip from waking early and enjoying the sun, warmth, and view. They're drinking coffee and reading their Bibles, journaling. They're drawing close to the Lord and continuing to seek after Him.
This morning we'll eat breakfast and the children from Casa Sanidad y Libertad (the protective children's home that Daniel and Jessenia operate) will arrive. We're going to be traveling with the children to a location in northern Nicaragua where we will spend the night. It's a rustic ecolodge. There are trails to hike and open fields to play in. We'll build relationships with the children, we'll spend time alongside of them, playing with them, laughing with them, getting to know them, and - hopefully - demonstrating through our presence that they are loved.
Our team's goal this week is to love the children well and to support and encourage Daniel and Jessenia in their ministry. We will spend the week at Daniel and Jessenia's side, doing what they are doing and loving how they are loving. Our team does have a work project to accomplish this week and I will describe it later, but for now we will build relationships with the children and we will provide the children an opportunity for a weekend trip they would not otherwise have.
Daniel does not think where we're staying has Internet. Assuming he's right I will not be making another post to this blog until tomorrow evening. In the meantime, please pray for our team in these ways: that we love the children well and begin to build relationships that will last throughout the week and well beyond and that our team settles in to the new surroundings, finding peace and trusting that the Lord is in control, as He promises that He is.
